January 23rd 2018, Keep Your Promises

Today's post is inspired by a donation I made to a senate candidate while paying a ticket to New York State. How did that inspire a post about promises and didn't I just cover this in Episode 18 of the Books By Josh Show. Yes I did slightly cover it in episode 18 but get ready for more info that will change your mindset.

So what does me donating money to a senate candidate have anything to do with keeping promises? Well this candidate allowed me to interview him for one of my YouTube channels and in return I promised to donate to their campaign. The candidate isn't running for my district and not part of the political party I affiliate with, so why would I donate to their campaign? Because I gave my word that I would, it's that simple. Your promise is a sacred bond between two or more people. It's the same with the ticket I received from New York State, I failed to keep a promise that I made to the state. I forgot to file my quarterly state sales tax, which was something I promised when I digitally signed the contract with the state. There's no point in me getting mad at the the state because it's my fault that I received the ticket, not theirs.

This is the correct mindset to have and it works in all aspects of life. Whenever you buy a product you are actually purchasing a promise from the manufacturer. In the case of wireless service it's the best unlimited plan or the best plan at that price point. In the case of buying a phone you a buying the promise that the device will best suit your needs. When going to a restaurant you are purchasing the promise that the food, atmosphere or price will be good. If you are a business owner then promises will make or break your business. That is why big corporations encourage their clients to take surveys, these surveys ensure that the employees are upholding the companies promises.

So, what am I trying to say with this post. Be a person of your word and take ownership for breaking promises. If you enjoyed this post thanks, if not oh well.
