April 25th 2018 Don't Look Back in a Race

Yup Joe's and Joette's, here's is another post that was inspired by me reading Evan Carmichael's latest book. So what successful person did I pull this quote from? Oprah, yup you read that right we are going to learn from Oprah today. So let's dive into today's post.

Don't look back in a race is simple common sense, you never want to look behind you. Why, because you could miss out on what lies ahead of you. And no, I'm not only talking about opportunity, I'm talking about everything else. Out here in New York City we have potholes in our streets and other obstructions. So if you are looking behind you are bound to hit something in front of you. Or in my case, if you are looking down at your Zune you end up hitting a Mercedes. So was Oprah talking about it in this same sense? Nope. She was using it to describe her outlook of her competition in the business world.

Instead of worrying about what her competition was doing she focused more on what she was doing. She felt that if she "looked back", she might become intimidated. Oprah knew that the only way she didn't have to worry about her competitors was to be the best at what she was doing. That's why she focused on her own stuff because that was the only thing she could control. We can't control our competition or the hot new product in the market, what we can control is the amount of work we bring to the table.

So how do I plan to implement this quote in my daily routine? I'm not going to sit and complain about how other content creators are getting more exposure than myself. I'm going to pull up my pants and just work harder and smarter. One way is by bringing my laptop to work so that on my lunch break I can work on more content for you guys.
