August 14th 2019 Tough Times Vs Tough People

Joshes and Joshettes, it's Wednesday and you know what that means... Philosophy Wednesday, I know it's been a while but I'm doing one anyway. This week we are looking at an old saying that still holds weight today. Let’s take a look at this week’s teaching.

“Tough times don’t last, tough people, do” more than likely you’ve heard this saying before. I actually forgot about this saying until I saw it mentioned in a Les Brown book. I know this quote is self-explanatory but I still have to give it a Books By Josh definition. “Tough times don’t last” means what troubles you now will pass eventually. “Tough people do” means those who see their endeavors through no matter what can weather any storm. It’s funny that I relearned this teaching right when I was let go from my job due to my injury. I find it funny because I am going through one of the toughest times of my life and this teaching appears to assure me that everything is going to be alright. I’m not going to go into full detail but will give a synopsis for new readers. A year and a half ago I received an injury at my job and have been out of work for all of 2019. The insurance company is paying me half of my salary and I have no job to return to. In even shorter words, I’m going through a tough time.

So how can you apply this teaching to your life? You really can’t because this teaching real purpose is to motivate you. Why did I write about a teaching that can’t be applied to our lives? I chose this teaching because it is a powerful teaching that we all need to know. Things happen in life that make life hard and we need a reminder telling us that everything will be alright. Who knows, this teaching might have mystical powers. After reading it, I put out two blog posts and a podcast episode. Sure hard work doesn’t always guarantee success but seeing things through means no regrets. You may not believe in motivation but nothing lasts forever, even life is finite. Just do me one favor, whenever you are going through a tough time remember this teaching. Do with it what you will but remember this too shall pass.

Remember to be successful it's your right, duty, and responsibility.
