January 29th 2018, When I decided to change
Today's post is inspired by my walk on January 28th 2018. While walking thirteen miles, I had some time to reminisce and think of some plot points for my next book. While thinking back I found something that hit me hard and still motivates me to this day. So what's a better topic to write about then one that is responsible for how my life turned out.
So what is this topic that changed my life for the better, headphones. Yup a pair of headphones changed my life and let me explain to you why. Back when I was in my early twenties, I wanted a pair of Sennheiser headphones. They weren't too pricey they cost two hundred and fifty dollars. I decided that I wanted them so I ate cup of noodles everyday for a month. At the end of the month I used all the money I had saved and purchased the headphones. I know what your thinking, how does this story affect the outcome of my life. Well fast forward a year and I was out of a job and had no money to fall back on. I hit rock bottom and had to sell most of my things just to pay most of my bills. I sold those headphones which I had worked so hard to buy. I sold my only form of entertainment, my Sony PlayStation 3. I even sold my car, that's how far I had fallen. I was making close to six figures yet I was spending as much as I was making. "When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up." Les Brown.
I hit rock bottom and I never wanted to hit that low ever again. It hurts letting go of things that you love. I understand that all these possessions can be re purchased but I will never buy those items again. Why, because those items remind me of the hurt I felt when life hit me. When I was boxing my items up to sell I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't fall that far again. After I started working again I made sure to start saving money in a rainy day fund. This was a short post but it shows that life hits us all and we just have to get back up.
