January 31st 2018 Pleasure within Despair
Yup this is another post about philosophy but this post was inspired by another unlikely source. I read this quote in a Japanese Manga. " It's in despair that you find the sharpest pleasures, particularly when you are most acutely aware of the hopelessness of your position." It''s a mouth full but I will do my best to make it my own.
This quote is something every motivational speaker and guru talk about. If you listen to any motivational video or audio the speaker always talks about hitting a hard point and it works out. Look at Bill Gates and Gary Vaynerchuck they worked for ten years without taking a day off and because of that they have become successful. Eric Tomas was homeless for a point in his life, but he used that to motivate him. That's basically the meaning of this quote. If life has you feeling down, just remember it can always be worse.
Prime example, just yesterday I interviewed for a position and received a response earlier today. The position wasn't too bad because it was both salaried and commissioned. If I did the bare minimum I would earn six figures, unfortunately I did not get the position. Instead of getting depressed about not getting the position, I have to look at it as a blessing. It could have been my dream job but this is my despair and I will soon find some pleasure. It's all about your mindset, you can't always be positive but me not getting a job isn't the end of the world.
